Dear Hazel,
please let me second John Hilsdon's response...
Moreover, here at London Met not only do we comment on students' real
assignments in our drop-in advice clinics - we are also communicating
much more with Departments over our short course delivery. Here we are
proposing that we can tailor certain programmes (our Essay writing
courses and our Writers Clubs for example) to particular assignments
(the adjunct model of Learning Development). Thus it would be quite
possible to run a short essay writing course tied to a specific module
and a specific assignment. In the process we might devise tailored
resources for that particular module to support the tutor delivering it
without this support in the future - or it may be agreed that we
continue with this form of targeted support as it meets the needs of the
particular topic, the particular assessment format or the particular
student cohort that way.
Best wishes,
Sandra Sinfield
