Hello Carol
I'm going to the Dublin symposium and would be very interested in
running an event here at Bournemouth. We organised a PAL conference in
2004 at the end of our FDTL3 funded project, so it is about time we
thought about about planning another. Given timeframes, work load and
the availability of student PAL Leaders (who I would like to involve
too), likeliest times would be either November 2007 or January/February
2008.
For those of you who don't know about us ... We run a big PAL scheme at
Bournemouth and we trained 112 students to be PAL Leaders this year.
The scheme runs on 34 courses and is available to around 1,650 first
year undergraduates. With the aid of HEA transferability funding we also
helped 2 other universities get started last year with PAL and I'm
helping another get started later this year - so, there could be a
variety of perspectives and experiences to offer. Our revised web site
will go live soon - the current one is somewhat out of date.
I'd like to get some idea on the level of interest from LDHEN, so please
drop me an email.
Kind regards
Hugh

Unfortunately not enough notice - but this looks very interesting. I
wondered if there might be enough interest within the LDHEN group for
this event to be re-run over in England/Wales.

Dear Member,
Individuals involved in peer-learning/peer-assisted learning initiatives
in Trinity College Dublin (including myself!) and other Irish
universities are hosting a Peer-Learning Symposium. The purpose is to
promote peer learning as an effective means of supporting student
learning and to encourage participants to develop peer learning
initiatives in their own institutions.
It will be held on 10th of March in TCD and will combine an introduction
to the theoretical context, a summary of lessons learnt from first-hand
experiences as well as practical collaborative activities where
participants are grouped according to their academic or professional
expertise.
The
keynote speaker will be Prof. Agnieszka Bron, Chair of Education at the
Stockholm University, Sweden. Further details and registration are
available at

I would appreciate it if you would inform potentially interested
individuals in your institutions, as appropriate. Thank you for your
cooperation and apologies if you have already received this
notification.
