Thanks for raising this, Pauline.
Here in Manchester the Centre for Continuing Education ran a
flexible unit alongside the University's course for new lecturers
aimed at part-time tutors and those who support learning. The
course drew participants from several of those backgrounds that
you mentioned as well as a few others. It could be taken as a stand-
alone over one year or combined with a second project-based unit
to form a PgCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. It
was portfolio based and students were expected to work in action
learning sets.
Unfortunately, due to restructuring around the University we are no
longer able to offer this. However, with my LearnHigher hat on I've
been talking to colleagues here who are involved with both HEA and
SEDA and we're thinking about how we might design a suitable
alternative.
I'd be very happy to talk with you and anyone else who's interested
about the course and to see how we could move forward on a CPD
award.
See you in Liverpool next week.
Ann
