I am rewriting our 'Pass Your Exams' booklet and I want to
include a discussion on open & closed book exams, and in
particular, what are the particular issues for students to
think about in advance of and in relation to open book
exams.
It seems to me that this type of assessment increases
pressure on students in an exam context, rather than
reduces it - largely because of the ambiguity of the
situation: what to take in to the exam hall; what is
expected of me etc? I wondered if anyone has produced an
exam preparation booklet that addresses this aspect of exam
taking, including the rationale for the process? If so,
