Hi Martin
A good starting point is Theresa Lillis book 'Student Writing - Access,
Regulation, Desire' Routledge 2001 - I especially like chapters 2 and 6
on this.
I know Roz Ivanic at the University of Lancaster has also written about
this theme and the issue of identity/agency in academic writing and
challenging conventions about the exclusion of first person
references...
Hope this helps
John

Subject: students' use of first person
Hello to all
Has anyone done or does anyone know of any research into the impact on
student learning and skills development of avoidance of first person in
academic writing?
Best wishes
Martin Hampton
