Hi to all LDHEN members,
I am the learning support coordinator in my university and have been
involved in learning support in FE as well.
This is a tricky one, but one I think, we will increasingly be called upon
to provide in the future. I believe a two pronged approach is necessary;
student feedback and department/module/programme staff feedback including
tracking of student progress after receiving learning support/development
input. Unfortunately most of us are not in a position to do the tracking
and have to rely on interested and concerned colleagues in depts etc to do
this.
For example, I am aware of a colleague in one of the departments of my
university (on a different campus) who has done this and has tracked a 10%
improvement in grades.
Personally, I collect (and ask for) all types of feedback from staff and
students and use it as much as possible!!
