The Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Project at Bournemouth University is funded
through FDTL3. We will be hosting our End of Project Conference on
Wednesday, 21st January 2004. I enclose a registration form, a call for
proposals and guidance notes for submission of proposals. Please draw this

We will be pleased to welcome:
* practitioners of PAL and other similar student-to-student support
schemes such as PASS, SI and mentoring, whether students, academic or
central staff
* staff working in HE and FE keen to learn more about PAL and similar
schemes
The aims of the conference are to:
* Share the outcomes of the PAL Project with others
* Promote and review the principles and practices of PAL
* Examine diversity and future directions in the practice of PAL
* Draw on and contribute to the experience of students involved with
PAL
* Examine the theory of and evidence base for PAL
* Promote the use of PAL Project training materials
Bournemouth University staff and students will present their experiences of
setting up and running PAL and we are extending an invitation to
practitioners at a range of institutions to present with us. The conference
will also be used to disseminate PAL Project materials and findings that
have come about through the three years of operation of the PAL Project at
Bournemouth.
Location and accommodation
The conference will be held at the Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth, which
has sea views and is close to Bournemouth Pier, beaches and town. The
reduced rate for delegates wishing to stay overnight is £40 for en-suite
room, bed and breakfast.

Cost
The cost of this one-day conference will be £60 for delegates and £40 for
presenters.
