Hi all,
I co-ordinate services for both staff and students. We have a
disclosure system which I organize and members of staff can contact me
confidentially for support and guidance. We only have 2000 students, so
this works wells for us, but for larger institutions, I would envisage
that there would need to be someone based in HR.

Subject: Support services for disabled staff
Hi all,
To support our work on the DES we sent out a survey to all staff on
their experiences of working at Brookes. Issues that have been
highlighted from an initial topline analysis include the variable
experiences of disabled staff with regard to access to support & advice
and the differing levels of understanding of line managers.
We have Occupational Health and HR but we don't have an identified
support network or central contact/information service for staff in the
same way that we do for students and one of our DES action points is
likely to be to put something in place to address this. I would be
grateful for any information from colleagues as to how they support
disabled staff needs within their institution. Given the topicality of
the drawing up of a DES it might be a useful discussion to have on list
but if you'd prefer to reply off list my email address is

Many thanks
