Aneela,
At Essex we have a policy and a set of guidelines that have been in
operation for a number of years, to support this policy we have a
network of trained appointed advisers. Our Advisers do not act as
representatives or advocates for their clients. Our advisers are not
called as witnesses in disciplinary procedure as they don't usually
witness the harassment, the only advice they could give to any
disciplinary panel would be about the interview with the client and what
advice was given to the client. Our network is available to both staff
and students.
Best wishes,
Syd.

Subject: Question about Harassment Advisers
Dear Colleagues
I have an urgent question needing answered and would appreciate any help
from you.
At the University of Glasgow, we have voluntary Harassment Advisers who
provide support and assistance to any member of staff who feel they have
been harassed.
If you also have advisers,
1) Are they required to be called upon as witnesses in procedures
associated with harassment like grievance or disciplinary?
2) Are they also involved in the formal stages of your harassment policy
and procedure where it may go to grievance?
A response today/ tomorrow am would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Aneela
