Irfaan
I am watching with interest ongoing debate on the Universities Personnel
Association mailbase about this very issue and I think there is
universal concern about what HESA are asking for and whether it is
something that Universities could/should say no to !
Can I suggest that we all speak to the contact in our own institution
who deals with HESA in case the debate has moved on?
Cheers
Dave

Subject: New proposed changes to disability information by HESA
Dear colleagues
I was wondering if i could get your veiws on Disability monitoring. As
you might or might nor be aware HESA have proposed changes to disability
information we provide. Currently the data provided is the number of
disabled and non-disabled staff, and no more detail. HESA have proposed
we provide data more in line with what the CRE recommend, which is very
detailed and breaks down the disabled category to various different
categories.
Here is a link to the proposed changes
"HESA has published a new circular setting out proposed updates to the
Staff Record for 2007/08. This is available on the website at:
http://www.hesa.ac.uk/circulars/staff/2007/07_01.html. "
i would welcome views on how other organisations have responded to this
and what others are currently monitoring with regards to staff data.
If you do ask your staff for detailed information on disability, what
has your experience been so far?
Thank you for your time
Kindest regards
