You have not provided your email address, so I am replying to the list
rather than directly to you.
At the Open University, we used the following process.
Firstly, we identified the various stakeholders involved in RAE decision
making, such as; the Pro-Vice Chancellor with responsibility for
research, the central RAE coordinating team, our RAE review team, Unit
of assessment coordinator and Unit of Assessment panel members.
We then identified the types of training/skills that different
stakeholders required and identified three main types;
1. Equality impact assessment
2. Recruitment and Selection
3. Diversity
From this, a compulsory training requirement matrix was drawn up.
For each of the skills areas identified, we were fortunate to have
something already in place that could meet the learning need. We have
an Equality Impact Assessment toolkit, Recruitment and Selection
training days are held throughout the year, and we have an online
diversity toolkit. So we were able to advise various stakeholders of
what compulsory training they needed to complete in order to be prepared
for RAE and this information was included in the code of practice.
I think there are two possible things you could take from our approach.
Although you might not have the same infrastructure in place, the matrix
approach to identifying stakeholders and training needs could be
applied. And secondly, it is worth considering what you already have in
place that you can use.
I hope that is of some help.

Subject: RAE and Eand D training
Dear All
Help please - here at Exeter the RAE is extremely significant and as
part
of the process we have (quite rightly) produced an EO code of practice,
drawing on ECU guidance
We want to deliver training for those involved in RAE decision making
which
focuses not only on E and D issues but also specifically in the context
of
the RAE.
I think it would be useful to use a trainer who has a clear commitment
to E
and D but who also who understands the processes around the RAE.
Has anyone else organised this sort of training (and who has delivered
it)
and if not what sort of training has been used.?
thanks
kate
