Dear Heriot,
I'm not altogether sure what you are asking. Are you asking for information
on a checklist of functions that need to be reviewed for impact assessment?
or different types of impact assessment methodology?
or a checklist of the sort of issues in Schools/departments that need to
be explored by impact assessment ie the types of questions to be asked?
We have listed what we identify as the most relevant functions and are
discussing the level at which the information for impact assessment is to
be collected for example: centrally (eg by university data), departmentally
(eg by annual monitoring), by specific service (eg through focus groups).
This is not as yet a very developed aspect of policy but will be further
developed in the briefings we are shortly giving departments on action
planning.
All finalised outcomes are the result of consultation so any template or
blue print you may derive from your researches would ideally be modified by
institution specific consultation. Institution reality is never as neat as
the lovely theoretical models we draw up as I am sure you have discovered.
Our early attempts at pulling something together, which evolved from a
blueprint on which everyone from Governors, Executive, Staff and students
had a say, is to be found at our website. I don't hold it up as a stunning
example of far reaching excellence but as an honest piece of work which
evolved from our institution grappling with the requirements. Needless to
say bottomless resources and giving me (the EO Co ordinator) everything I
wanted would have given a different picture but that balancing of interests
is what we work with.
Our web site is www.wlv.ac.uk. The best way of finding our REP is to click
on 'current students', then at the yellow strip at the top of that section
click on 'support' , then'university policies' in the list that appears ,
there you should find the REP with our key functions chart. Not sure if
this is of help you but then not quite sure what your question is.
All the best. Berry
