Really regret not getting the chance to have a chat with you at the
Conference last week but hope you enjoyed the day.
I have asked Skill to send you some info about the new Advisory Committee on
the Employment of Disabled People as they are seeking nominations - quite
happy to support you if you are interested in standing? This body replaces
the old NACED - National Council on the Employment of the Disabled. Not
sure if it will be a toothless tiger and how it will relate to the NDC but
Colin may have a view. I thought it would be good if we could get someone
of your standing and from the h.e. sector on board. I would have tried
myself but just at present cannot take on more commitments. About to do
another term as Chair of Skill plus plenty of new challenges coming up at
the OU.
Trust you are settling in o.k. at Middlesex. If you would find it helpful
do not forget the invitation to spend a day here - we could build a
programme to suit your needs. I am about to go off to train with a new
guide dog. GDBA finally agreed that Quorn now 6.3 years is really stressed
out so he is taking early retirement tomorrow. I can be contacted by e-mail
while I am away as I hope to be able to use my lap top to keep in touch with
the external world to preserve my sanity!!! I also have permission to
interrupt my training to attend Skill Conference at Loughborough so we could
talk then.
