I have pleasure in sending you further details of the upcoming HEEON conference: ‘Equality in a cold climate: Managing equality in uncertain times’ which is being held at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham on 20th January, 2011.
I would be very grateful if you would publicise this event to colleagues within your institution as, following the recent vote on fees and in view of the upcoming White Paper, which will propose a changed role for HEFCE, this conference will afford delegates with a prime opportunity to hear directly from the Chief Executive Officer of UUK, and from HEFCE, on the likely impact of these on equality and diversity work. It is anticipated that there will also be an opportunity to hear directly from a representative from the NUS. A panel discussion is included in the programme to provide delegates with a further opportunity to raise any particular concerns (see below).

The aim of this event is to:
• support Equality and Diversity practitioners in continuing to promote and embed Equality and Diversity in these challenging times.
Its objectives are to:
• facilitate an improved understanding of the bigger picture within the context of the Higher Education sector;
• share good practice from across the sector;
• consider ways of ensuring equality in the face of financial, political and legal change;
• and help equip colleagues to influence the agenda within their institutions.
Fees: The fee for this event is £175 plus VAT. There is a £50 reduction for up to 3 delegates from each corporate member institution.
Please note - cheques should be made payable to the University of Worcester.
