Dear Colleagues,
There has been some really good work done within HEIs by Equality and
Diversity Practitioners, Student Unions, staff and students in relation to
the positive duty to
‘promote equality of opportunity and good relations between persons of
different racial groups.'
This pro-active work helps to reduce intolerances on campus and provide a
healthier environment to work and study in. Due to the importance of this
issue Equality Challenge Unit is going to provide a web resource for
examples of innovative practice in promoting good relations. This will
include activities, events, schemes and other initiatives from across the
country. ECU will also disseminate a smaller, diverse range of examples to
the sector in early September. It is hoped that this will encourage
reflection on the good work that has been done and what is achievable in
the future.
We would invite you all to email examples from your HEIs
[log in to unmask] by 16th July.
Responses should include:
• Reasons for the initiative
• Approximate participant numbers
• Outputs/outcomes and learning from the event
• Any follow up actions
A range of edited responses will be shared on the website. Please limit
your response to 500 words. Please also disseminate this email to any
relevant colleagues with an interest in this area.
We look forward to hearing your responses.
Kindest Regards
Chris Brill
