Dear Kirsteen,
I'm replying to the whole list in case this is helpful to others. We
are also hoping to increase disclosure for both staff and students and
any ideas would be welcome. One thing our HR is working on is a
Disability Leave Scheme. It is under consultation at the moment. It
was initially requested by Unison and they have a "model" Scheme on
their web site at:
http://www.unison.org.uk/acrobat/B2105.pdf
It was thought that this might encourage some people to come forward who
might not otherwise. In order to benefit from the leave staff would
need to confirm their eligibility i.e. that they meet the criteria and,
therefore, declare themselves as having a disability.
