At Sheffield Hallam we are doing what we always do when faced with a challenge, we have set up a working group. This involves both academic
and support staff, at various levels. It is dealing with both disability and race relations legislation. However, the difference between our
ability to cope with the two pieces of legislation is that we have experienced, identified support for dealing with disability issues but no
specific support in relation to race. We do not have an equal opportunities adviser/ officer.
We certainly welcome a model policy. In relation to the draft codes my main problem is working out which bits are relevant to us, which bits
are repetitive and which slightly different. It would be so much simpler if we had one code for HE which included everything we needed to
concern ourselves with.

We are having similar problems as described and welcome the model
policy. Our local CRE however have been very helpful and we have received
support from their public sector team.
I agree that a sector wide working party would be useful to share views etc.
