Dear Chris,
Good hunting. However, just a reminder that harassment can be very different
and needs to be acknowledged and treated as such.
I would specifically refer to racial harassment and caution that it needs a
particularly sensitively different and specific way of dealing with it, if
it is to be as effectively dealt with as possible.
The type of victim support, that is needed will need to appropriately deal
with the alleged perpetrator, while the investigation is being carried out.
This procedure is vital if as we are already aware, victims who could
already be very discouraged and very unsure about institutional response to
their issues, are to be encouraged to report racial incidents.
As part of a bigger effective institutional race equality picture that is
looking to institutionalise race equality according to the requirements of
the RRAA General and Specific Duties, I would further advise a reference to
the Macpherson definition of institutional racism and a racist incident.
This will further inform what and how we need to do in our institutional
approach regarding this very important matter.
Please refer to the attached question and answer on Anti-racist procedures,
for any further ideas that you might need in undertaking your review.
As far as training is concerned, please refer to the attached information on
training, which you might want to use.
Good luck with what you are looking to accomplish and do come back to me at
any time, if you need to.
Keep up the good work and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Regards

Subject: Harassment video
Dear all,
The University of Warwick is reviewing its training for dealing with
sexual, racial and personal harassment. I would be grateful for
suggestions from list members of useful training videos in this area,
particularly those with a focus on the public sector/HE.
Many thanks
Chris Twine
