Committee servicing 22 November 2001, London and 27 February 2002,
Leeds ------------------------------------------------------ The
seminar will clarify the reasons for the actions of the administrator
involved in committee servicing and to look at the processes involved.
This is a practical session, looking at all aspects of committee
servicing from initial preparation to writing of the minutes and the
final follow-up action. Participants will learn about the roles of the
committee secretary and the convenor, how problems can be avoided by
adequate preparation, gain practical experience through an "in-basket"
exercise and address the concerns and problems which they raise as
they share experience Members GBP110 non-members GBP160
The legal framework of HE, 29 November 01, London (revised programme)
----------------------------------------------------- Like all
organisations, institutions of higher education are subject to the
law. There are laws which define their very status and it is important
that institutions responsible for administration within higher
education are aware of the overall framework in which HEIs operate.
For example - are HEIs public or private bodies? What is their
relationship with Government? What is the legal basis of their
funding? Where do they derive their powers? Answers to these questions
contribute to our understanding of the legal framework in which we
have to operate. This seminar will be of interest to all managers and
administrators in HEIs who need an awareness of the general legal
framework in HE. Members GBP110 non-members GBP160
