We have been using the categories dictated by HESA for ethnic
monitoring purposes, but are increasingly aware that they are causing
problems. The biggest problem is the absence of a category: Black
British.
We can rectify this by have a separate category of our own and then
combining the results for the HESA return, but I wondered whether
there was a strong view that we should indeed be putting pressure on
HESA to change the categories? Is anyone aware of any discussions of
this sort with HESA?
