We've done a lot of work on this in 2019 under my project called 'flexible spaces'.
We've looked at existing provision in different faculties/schools and buildings and also other 'underused' facilities such as first aid rooms.
We're currently relabelling these rooms as 'welfare rooms' so they can be used for a variety of things (including expressing milk). Whilst all these rooms will be private and lockable, the facilities inside vary from room to room, but this is advised to staff on pages such as this one: https://www.staffnet.manchester.ac.uk/equality-and-diversity/athena-swan/maternity-support/ (more updates are forthcoming)
These rooms will also appear on our interactive map along with RADAR key toilets and Universal toilets: https://www.manchester.ac.uk/discover/maps/interactive-map/
Hope that is useful

We're a small campus but do have a rest room with a fridge so if the person were happy to use that this would be our solution (it is a lockable room without windows so private). It's an open access room so there is no permission required to use it as such.
My view would be this is the minimum required and off campus would probably not be suitable for staff or students needing quick access for expressing milk.

Subject: Expressing milk
Hi
2nd and last request from me today please.
Can I take some advice on how institutions support staff/students who (may) need to express milk when on campus? Do you have assigned facilities or take a more flexible approach with estates constraints? If alternative off-site arrangements were the option, would this leave an institution vulnerable under the equality act - obviously the person is the main focus, however I'm accounting for building constraints on small sites?
Kind regards
Lee
