Dear All,
We are reviewing the process of completing and managing Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) across the University and I would appreciate if you would share your experiences in this area.
We currently use an EIA online toolkit. The individual writing the policy is asked to access the toolkit directly to complete the EIA which then goes through an approval process from HR and the faculty/department manager.
However, the toolkit is viewed as quite difficult to use and staff feel it is an administrative burden. Whilst staff do of course take E&D considerations into account during policy development, the method of recording the assessment and decisions is not working as effectively as we would like via the current method.
Any information regarding the administration of EIAs, including the method of EIA assessment that you undertake and how you record and log EIAs would be helpful.
Also any information regarding the cultural aspects of EIAs, such as how you have embedded EIAs into day-to-day procedures and kept the practice ongoing within your organisation would be particularly welcomed.
Thank you in advance for any helpful information you can share either to the group or to my direct email.
