Hi Nneb - nice to be in touch again! I'm now HoD Psychology at Westminster uni and leading our faculty Athena SWAN working group - in psychology I have used VL hours to cover some teaching in the first semester for a SL who has returned from mat leave to enable her to focus on completing MA academic practice.
This is a departmental arrangement

Subject: Academic Reserach staff Maternity Leave returners and workload
Hello,
We are currently seeking ways we can support Academic staff who are returning from Maternity Leave to balance their research and teaching workload.
I would be grateful if you would let me know:
· What initiative(s) if any you have in place (e.g. funding to allow for increased time for research and reduced teaching time in workload allocation)
· If funding is available, whether it is provided centrally or from local budgets
· About any information there may be around Academic Mat. Leave returners and workload balance
Best regards
Nneb
