Dear Ferhat,
Thanks for your post on admin-EO. I thought I would respond to set out current and future work on women into leadership positions in HE.
ECU is funded to support the higher education sector with equality and diversity work at a strategic rather than at an individual institutional level, which means that developing a local programme would not be possible. One of our areas of focus is on women in leadership positions, and earlier this year we published some materials on women's mentoring schemes - http://www.ecu.ac.uk/publications/mentoring-progressing-womens-careers-in-higher-education/
In 2013, we are planning a project with the Leadership Foundation which will explore the career trajectory of the alumni of the Leadership Foundation's Top Management Programme, which is increasingly seen as the gateway programme for progression in Vice-Chancellor roles. We are still discussing the potential scope of the project, but we are particularly interested in the issue of gender.
We hope that the project will give us a better understanding of the career progression of women in HE, as well as make recommendations to HEIs. This piece of work will also inform any programme of work that institutions undertake in order support developing women's careers.
With best wishes,
Gary

Subject: Re: Evidence to support a Women into leadership programme
Dear Bertille
I would definitely say that there is value in developing and delivering a women only programme, our equality data last year showed an under-representation both across support and academic areas. I am currently in discussion with the School's Gender Institute and Gender Equality Forum, with a view to moving forward with this particular agenda. One of the areas I am reviewing is to develop is a women's programme whether in house or in collaboration with external stakeholders. I have had an discussion with Gary Loake around this subject a few weeks ago. I would welcome if the ECU developed such a programme and would be happy to part of any discussion around this area.
Kind Regards
Ferhat

Subject: Evidence to support a Women into leadership programme
Dear Colleagues,
We are trying to set a Women into leadership programme to address the under-representation of women at senior grades.
I have been asked to find out some evidence on the value of a women only programme and whether this is something female staff would prefer/welcome.
If you have any information or research on this it would welcomed.
Best regards
Bertille
