Hi Michele
Would you be able to let me have a bit more info about the poster presentation session and marketplace? Are you simply looking for posters to include, or would there be more involved?
Thanks
Helen

Dear all,
HEEON aims to include a poster presentation session and a ‘marketplace,’ for materials likely to be of interest to delegates, at its upcoming conference ‘Keeping your balance on shifting sands: advancing equality in challenging times’ to be held at the University of Warwick, Scarman on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th June, 2011 (details at end).
If you have would like to contribute to either of these, please email [log in to unmask] with details as soon as possible, ideally by May 16th.
I would also draw your attention to HEEON’s AGM, which will be held on Thursday 16th June, and the message immediately below this from Sarah Lewis, HEEON’s Deputy Chair.
Many thanks and have a good weekend,
Michele
Michele Lefevre, HEEON Administrator
Colleagues,
New members of the HEEON Steering Group (SG) are elected each year at the AGM, held during the summer conference. This year there will be at least three vacancies. The broad outline of what an SG member does is explained in the attached document. My e mail is to encourage you to read it and think about whether you would like to be nominated.
HEEON has a very diverse membership; I am thinking way beyond the 9 Protected Characteristics! The SG seeks to have a membership that reflects this.
We need you:
- whether you have a student, staff (or both) remit
- if you work full- or part-time
- whatever kind of HEI you are from e.g. post 92, Russell Group or HE in FE
- no matter how many (or few) years you have worked in HE
- whether you are from England, Ireland, Scotland or Wales
- regardless of if you can attend the conference or not.
I realise how daunting taking up such a role can be, so please contact me if you would like to talk it over without commitment. In addition, the existing SG members will be holding a drop-in session at 7.15, prior to evening meal, on the first day of the conference to give you another opportunity to find out more with no commitment.
Only you can put yourself forward for election to the SG - no one will be head-hunted!
Best Wishes,
Sarah

Subject: HEEON Residential conference, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th June, 2011
Dear all
I have pleasure in sending you information regarding the upcoming HEEON residential conference: ‘Keeping your balance on shifting sands: advancing equality in challenging times’ to be held at Scarman, the University of Warwick on Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th June, 2011.
The Aim of this conference is to:
Help practitioners consider how they can make equality central to their institution in these challenging times by sharing key research, good practice and enabling peer engagement.
The objectives of this event are to:
• Present good practice that has been informed by recent research projects in the sector;
• Consider the implications of changes in law – particularly in relation to the Public Duties and the removal of the default retirement age;
• Better understand the experience of BME staff in HE;
• Share knowledge and experience and learn more about raising the profile of equality and diversity on campus;
• Give delegates an opportunity to examine and debate ‘the bigger picture’ with colleagues from across the sector.
Fees:
The Conference fee remains at £350 plus VAT. Limited en-suite accommodation with a reception, conference dinner and breakfast is available on site for an additional £110 plus VAT. Attendance for one day only is £175 plus VAT.
Please note there is a £50 per day reduction for up to 3 delegates from each HEEON corporate member institution.
Online bookings can be made at: http://www.heeon.ac.uk/events.htm
Please make any cheques payable to the University of Worcester.
Fees, less an administration charge, can only be refunded if a written cancellation is received no later than 3 week before the start of the event. We regret that accommodation bookings will, however, be charged at the full rate, as will any cancellations received after this date, although we are happy to accept substitute nominees.
Please note that the 19th HEEON AGM will take place during the event on Thursday 16th June. Anyone wishing to stand for election to the steering group is invited to meet with current members to discuss the commitment involved at 7.15 pm on the 15th.
Further details of this event will be posted on the HEEON website as they become available.
I hope to see you at this event.
Have a good weekend.
Kindest regards
Michele
