Dear all
Festive greetings (let me be the first!!)
UWE is currently reviewing the effectiveness of its professional services administration with a view to a possible increased level of centralisation - currently the majority of professional service administration work is undertaken in the faculties with staff reporting into faculty executive teams. These are supported by small specialist central services.
We are keen to talk to other universities with largely centralised professional services /administration functions either with staff centrally located or physically located in faculties but with reporting lines into central services.
If you could let us know if you have or are considering increased centralisation could you let us know and also let us know who would be best to contact to talk through how the structures are working, how does the interface between faculty and professional services work, what issues have arisen or are likely to arise as a result of the decision to centralise and how have these been tackled. If you have been through this, did it realise the economies of scale and potential savings that were envisaged ?
It would be very helpful to share experiences. We look forward to hearing from you.
As ever, many thanks for your assistance, thoughts and view, please reply to me off line at
