Dear Sally,
I do think that its important that Dignity at Work and Study Schemes are
representative of the diversity of its staff and students as some people
may feel more comfortable talking to somebody they feel will identify
with and appreciate the issues they are raising. To give this choice
could only make the Scheme more accessible to the diversity of students
and staff. We are in the process of setting up our scheme and will
promote it to all including members of staff networks.
Kind Regards
Anne

Subject: Bullying & Harassment Advisors
Dear All,
To support our Dignity at Work and Study Policy, we have 10 volunteer
members of staff Bullying and Harassment Advisors who are available to
advise staff and students on their options if they are concerned about
Bullying & Harassment.
Recently, our LGBT, Disabled and BME staff networks have requested that
we consider recruiting further Bullying and Harassment Advisors who
represent these protected characteristics and would be specialists in
supporting disabled, BME and LGBT staff and students. This would be
alongside any support already provided by the staff and student networks
and groups.
I'm writing to ask if any other HEIs have recruited specialist
harassment advisors in these areas or for other protected
characteristics and if so, if you could share any information about this
experience with me. Specifically, do you think that this been
successful? Have you received positive feedback from people who have
used this service? Have there been any problems?
Any information you can share would be gratefully received (off line if
you would prefer). I'm happy to circulate any findings around the list.
Many Thanks,
Sally
