Subject: Re: Supporting staff with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME
Dear all
I am well aware of the challenges of managing this condition as I have it too. My University paid for me to see a consultant who specialises in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I found his advice and support invaluable in negotiating appropriate reasonable adjustments with the University and would recommend this approach to others.
If anyone would like further information do contact me and I'll be happy to help.
Regards
Alex

Dear All,
We are dealing with a difficult disability case where reasonable
adjustments have been made over a period of 10 years for a member of
staff who has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. He is a Senior Lecturer and for
quite some time he has been unable to carry out the full range of
duties. We have gone through the usual process of referral to
Occupational Health, making reasonable adjustments etc but the member of
staff feels that the assessment should be done by a 'disability
specialist' or someone who has in-depth knowledge of CFS.
It would be really helpful to know what types of support structures and
reasonable adjustments colleagues might have made for staff suffering
from this condition.
Kind Regards
Fehmeeda
