Subject: Student disclosure of disability
Dear All,
We are currently undertaking a review of our Disability Equality
Scheme. As part of this we're looking at statistics on student
disclosure of disability.
Our numbers show an increase of student disclosure on admission. For
example in 2007/08 only 4.4% of our students declared a disability on
application, but 6.3% declared a disability when registering. So I am
writing to ask if you also experience a similar increase in numbers at
your HEI and if so, are you aware of any reasons for this? We assume
that data is more likely to be captured on admission as students wish
to arrange support or adjustments, but if you are aware of any other
reasons or any activities which have increased student disclosure in
your institution, I would be grateful to hear about them.
Please email any responses to [log in to unmask]
Many Thanks,
Sally
