Hi
Just wondering if people can share their provisions for parking on campus.
We are in the middle of a new travel plan and our parking provisions will
be changing on at least one of our campuses. A colleage from the transport
department had a couple of questions I said I would circulate on his
behalf.
Do you tie in solely with the blue badge scheme for deciding who is able to
use disabled parking spaces or do you have your own critieria? We provide
temporary access to people with broken legs etc, but there is a quesiton
about people with disabilities who do not qualify for blue badges having
access to University disabled parking.
At present when disabled staff and students present their blue badge they
can be issued with a free parking permit for disabled spaces (once it is
verified that the blue badge is actually theirs) - so a University disabled
badge is required to park in our bays, not just a blue badge as there is a
worry that these can be transferred to other people. Does anyone else
charge disabled staff/students for annual parking permits in the same way
other staff are charged?
Visitor disabled parking - do you charge disabled visitors via pay and
display machines or some other method or do they get free parking? do they
just need to show their blue badge or do they need to have it verified as
theirs first?
What do you call your university parking permit for disabled staff and
students? Disabled permit? Accessible parking permit? Do you refer to
disabled parking bays or accessible parking bays?
Any feedback would be really useful!
