Kirsteen
Have you seen the briefing from ECU regarding bursaries? See attached - you
might find it helpful.

Subject: bursaries for BME students
Hi all
Just asking for a quick bit of advice. I have received a query from our
donations manager - I haven't really had much to do with donations in the
past, so don't feel able to answer the query without some research, and I
thought someone on this list may have had to deal with something similar.
We have a donor who wishes to provide two bursaries of £500 each (for one
year only) to students who are studying law - but she has specified that
she wants the bursaries to be provided to black students only. The
donations manager wants to know whether this is strictly legal, whether it
has to be handled in a particular way to make it within the confines of the
law, or whether we should not be going down this route at all.
Can anyone advise?
Many thanks
Kirsteen
