May I be the first to congratulate you Lesley, with results such as
these there is no room for false modesty. Having visited you and keenly
followed your activities I would say the profile of E&D within your
institution is held high and proud and not least of all visible, and
that pays off.
Well done

Subject: Loughborough University - Equalities Success
Hi
I wanted to share some good news with you all, as in the equality and
diversity field, what we do, often goes unnoticed and unmarked.
Staff at Loughborough University have given us their overwhelming seal
of approval, according to the results of our first-ever campus-wide
staff survey. An amazing 95% of staff who took part in the survey say
the University is a good place to work. Most gratifying is the amazing
and excellent outcome to a series of equality and diversity questions
which scored in the 80's and 90's. It was also revealed that
Loughborough benchmarks favourably against other higher education
institutions.
The survey was carried out by an Independent Human Resources consultancy
who said that in almost 20 years experience of conducting surveys, in
the public and private sector, they had never received such a high
response on equality and diversity. While this does not mean that we
can relax, as there are still issues that we need to work on, this is a
ringing endorsement of the positive impact the Equality and Diversity
Team are having across the university.
The survey was undertaken over the summer when over 65% of our staff
took part. The survey covered a range of issues, including job
satisfaction, pay and conditions, communications, and health, safety and
welfare. All departments are currently receiving individual feedback and
Professor Shirley Pearce, the University's Vice Chancellor, has given an
undertaking to consider the findings of the survey and take steps to
address the issues raised by staff.
Professor Shirley Pearce, says: "The results are extremely encouraging,
both in terms of the excellent response rate and the very high levels of
satisfaction. Loughborough is proud of its ranking as one of the
country's leading universities, particularly in terms of the student
experience. That record is made possible by the hard work of our staff,
and it is good that they see the University as a leading employer, both
locally and within the higher education sector."
