Dear Lesley, not in the context of the University. However I am aware
that some local authorities employ specialist staff with sign language
skills to support deaf people and they would assist them in
interpreting/reading/filling application forms. i do think the language
barrier experienced by some deaf people does have a significant impact
on their employability.
Regards
Anne

Subject: Assistance with completing a job application form
Hello All
Has anyone had a situation where they have been asked to pay for a sign
language interpreter to assist a deaf applicant to complete a job
application form? It appears the deaf applicant does not understand the
application form as her first language is BSL - not English.
