Hi all,
There have been two main responses suggested in this thread: verifying someone's signature, and
asking them to show their face to a female staff member in private.
Does anyone have views on which is preferable? Should we be offering both options?
My instinct is that it's less intrusive to ask someone to verify their signature, less disruptive
in a situation like an exam hall, and will also work where it isn't possible for someone to show
their face (say, where they've been injured, or have grown a beard since the photo was taken). Then
again, it might mean they have to carry an additional piece of ID if the institution's ID cards
don't include a signature.
Your thoughts would be welcome!
Katya

We ask students to show their face to a female member of staff in a
private place.

Hello,
Where we cannot identify people from their ID photograph (for any
reason), we ask them to sign in and we then check their signature
against our records.
Best wishes

Subject: Burkha
Hello
Does anyone have any policies or procedures regarding the wearing of
burkha's during exams?
How do you check the identity of the individual and what "reasonable
adjustments" can be made in these instances?
Regards
Jasmin
