My experience of Marshall ACM so far is that they are willing to adapt
their toolkit to meet individual HEI's needs and he's been working with
a number of HEI's in its development. This particular tool may not be
appropriate for other organisations e.g. local government as they
approach it from the Local Government Equality Standard levels, so I
appreciate that it may not be suitable for the Health Service. Generally
speaking I think HEI's have less resources in the diversity field than
other public sector organisations i.e. police, local government, health
service and hence a toolkit like this can be quite helpful for capturing
faculty/departmental data in an in electronic format.
Regards
Anne

Dear All,
The health equality leads for the Department of Health's Single equality
scheme pilot learning sites, (without prejudice) quizzed Mr Marshall
about some pertinent issues, which he has not come back to us, he was
offered a lot of constructive help. However, it seems that he is more
interested in the HE sector (more money perhaps??). I would not
recommend any individual package until it is thoroughly tested, hard
sell or not EQIA's are not 'rocket science', but must be suited to your
particular institutions and needs, generic template will not be
sufficient. A few of us E&D leads are producing our own to ensure we
have a product that is 'fit for purpose', rather than a tick box
approach, which many of us will easily fall prey too.
Kind regards,
Dipen

Dear Jenny
At Derby we have introduced the MarshallACM on-line diversity
training tool for our employees. We have found it to be a good package
to introduce diversity awareness to employees. Around 25% of our
employees have completed it so far and no-one has reported any
difficulties as far as disability is concerned.
David Marshall came out to our East Midlands HE Equality and
Diversity Forum last week to demonstrate this and the Equality Impact
Assessment package. There was no hard sell and David is extremely
helpful regarding any queries.
If you need a demonstration of the packages David can provide
access to a demonstration model.

Subject: E-learning providers
Dear colleagues
I am investigating providers of e-learning. We are looking in
detail at MarshallACM and Cylix. I would be very grateful to anybody
who would be willing to share their experiences of these providers - we
are currently developing a questionnaire.
A colleague drew our attention to the Equality Foundation; does
any HE institution on the list have any experience of this provider?
They haven't appeared on our radar so far.
With thanks
Jenny
