Overview:
This event will showcase resources and expertise available now to
support the embedding of diversity within the curriculum. A more
inclusive curriculum will enable universities to respond more
effectively to the needs of an increasingly diverse student community.
Aims:
1. To share and promote good practice on diversity in the curriculum;
2. To inform participants about new support resources we have developed
including online case studies and a guide to language and image;
3. To provide an opportunity for networking for professionals with an
interest in this subject.

* Professor Alan Tait, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Curriculum & Awards, The
Open University
'The importance of an inclusive and accessible curriculum'
* Rowena Arshad OBE, Director of the Centre for Education for Racial
Equality in Scotland and Senior Lecturer, School of Education,
University of Edinburgh
'How to build diversity into your curriculum: learning from Scottish
institutions'
* Good practice case studies - presented by members of course teams
- 'Starting with Maths' - Illustrates the fact that Mathematics has
diverse cultural roots.
- 'Archaeology, the science of investigation' - Illustrates how the
incorporation of diverse examples from a wide range of sources enables
students to understand other perspectives of their subject.
- 'The arts past and present' - Illustrates the value of taking a broad
approach to the definition of 'The Arts', and drawing on a wide range of
examples.
