Dear Anne,
We have three sub-committees for each of the positive duties which contain representatives from all university faculties and other departments and include trades union and student union representatives. These committees also have general members who are from the relevant equality groups. It is through these that we consult. These committees also act as the mechanism for taking actions back to individual areas and for reporting back to the sub committees on the actions, which then form part of the annual reports.

Subject: Impact assessment consultations
Dear Colleagues,
The issue of consultation and at what stage we do it is one we are
grappling with here, as my understanding of the legislation is that we
should consult with target groups such as Women's, BME, Disabled groups
etc. There are concerns that this process could be become unwieldy and
delay the existing process of policy development if we engage in
consulting such groups.
I am keen to understand the various models you have used in your
institution and how you have overcome such concerns. Your responses via
jiscmail or contacting me directly will be highly appreciated.
Kind Regards
