Liz,
At Essex there are no plans yet for changes but we are looking at policy
issues at present. Just for information all our Academic and Academic
related staff already have contracts stating 67 as the retirement age
and have done for as long as anyone can remember.
Best wishes,
Syd.

Subject: Retirement Age Policies - your help please
Dear colleagues
It was very good to see so many of you at our conference last week and I
hope you enjoyed the event and found it helpful.
I will be in touch shortly with some further clarifications on some of
the age questions that were raised but meanwhile do see our web site for
FAQs which may be helpful.
In the immediate short term, I would really welcome some help from you
all. We have just had a call from Claire Saunders of the THES who was at
the conference and is keen to run an article on retirement ages and HEIs
plans in this regard. She wondered if we knew how many and which HEIs
were intending to remove ( or increase beyond 65) their retirement age
as a result of the incoming age regulations.
IF your HEI is considering either removing the retirement age altogether
OR increasing it beyond 65 and you are considering doing that in the
very near future, could you please let me know so that I can give Claire
an idea.... IF you are not considering it for this year but will be
considering it in the following five years ( in anticipation of the
Governments intended review of default ages) please let me know as well.
A few lines of an email is all I need if possible by tomorrow lunchtime.
If you want your HEI named to Claire and the THES that's fine but let me
know if you would prefer me simply to count you but not to name you in
any response I give her. Thanks everyone!
Many thanks everyone
Best wishes
Liz
