Engaging Disabled People in your Disability Equality Scheme
Jury's Hotel, Cardiff, April 26th
You will be aware that the new Disability Equality Duty comes into force
in December, and requires that each institution produce its own Disability
Equality Scheme. Your scheme must be drafted with the active involvement
of disabled people, including your staff, students and prospective
students. Skill Wales' conference will look at effective ways to engage
with disabled people, and what the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) will
expect to see in your Scheme.
Our workshops include Involving Disabled Staff, Involvement in Impact
Assessment, and Confidentiality and Disclosure. Our speaker from the DRC
will explain what is expected in your scheme, and the Commission for
Racial Equality will outline the challenges posed and lessons learned from
the Race Equality Duty.
Although of greatest relevance to institutions in Wales, this event is
suitable for institutions from across the UK.
Please contact Rona at Skill Wales for more information and a booking form.
