Dear colleagues
We have the Two Ticks symbol on all our recruitment advertising
including our web-site. We were reviewed by Jobcentre Plus in May. The
review was for all five campuses (both predecessor institutions had the
two ticks sybol previously). The review was very thorough - more so
than on previous occasions. (it can vary a bit in different areas I
believe).
At one of our DES meetings about staff issues, a staff member with a
disability said that when they were job-hunting, they looked
specifically for organisations with the two ticks symbol on their
adverts - because they felt that it indicated a commitment to employing
people with disabilities and that they would get good support.
The review was a very useful process and really made us think about what
we do. Good to have someone come in from outside of the organisation.
Timely, because we had already had some meetings re the DES.
I don't have any more detailed information at the moment (I am working
on a staff monitoring report at present - some analysis may come out of
that).

Subject: The two ticks symbol
I would like to hear from colleagues at HEI's that have gained the Two
Ticks Symbol. Could they tell me what difference gaining the symbol has
made to the recruitment of disabled people at their HEI. What have been
the resource implications both human and financial.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best wishes,
Syd.
