Mel,
We have several Hate Incident Reporting Centres within the University.
This means that staff in several departments (Student Services, Student
Union, and Personnel) have been trained by the Police to take reports of
racist, religious, homophobic and disability hate incidents. We then
pass that information to the Police. In addition, we have an agreement
with the Police that they will inform us of any incidents which happen
on the campus which aren't reported through us. We also just discussing
whether to have a number of University PCs switched to the Police's
TrueVision website for several weeks every now and again. We don't have
any specific processes in place to support students who report hate
incidents - I'm not convinced that this works.

Dear Colleagues,
We are reviewing our procedures and I would be very grateful if you
would share with me your procedures for students to report racist
incidents, both on and off campus, and the process for the university to
respond and support students who report.
Thanks,
Mel
