Hello Everyone,
We are a group of researchers at the University of Bolton conducting a
project, funded by the European Social Fund and The University of Bolton,
examining ethnic group differences in post-Higher Education job-seeking
behaviour (statistics show that graduates from certain ethnic minority
groups are more likely to be unemployed six months after graduation than
those from the White ethnic majority).
Among other things, the project aims to investigate whether, in addition
to possible residual discrimination by employers, some members of ethnic
minorities perceptions of discrimination, and the job seeking methods that
they employ, might be factors partially underlying this.
The practical aims of the project include a report of the implications of
our research for Higher Education careers officers and an advice and
information pack to support the job seeking efforts of students and
graduates, especially those from ethnic minorities.
To collect some of the data for the project we have put a questionnaire on
the web and we were wondering whether your Higher Education institution
could help us in our efforts to collect data. In particular, if possible
it would be desirable if HE institutions could send out a mailshot
flagging the existence of he questionnaire to all FINAL YEAR students who
are aiming to obtain employment in the UK after graduation (although you
would obviously be free to use any other method you thought appropriate).
We have prepared a leaflet that we are using in mailshots and we are
willing to pay any costs incurred by institutions assisting us with the
project.
The electronic questionnaire can be viewed at:

We would be happy to answer any questions, thanks for your time,
