Dear Colleagues,
arising out of recent case work, and with an eye on developing an equal pay
policy, we would like to know if any of you have such a thing as a Starting
Salary Policy - particularly for academic staff? What guidance/criteria are
set for appointment panels on starting salaries accounting for past
experience, current salary, benchmarking against colleagues in
same/different departments. How do we judge the value of sometimes very
different CVs? etc. etc. Currently such decisions seem open to unconscious
bias in a big way.
Any help would be welcome,
