Dear Colleague
We are pleased to confirm that ECU continues to offer expert advice and
guidance to the sector in all strands of equality.
While the policy team is being built up to six people, the full range of
advice remains available to all institutions and bodies in the sector.
A Policy Officer for the areas of race and religion is in place, her name
is Yasmin Khan, and her contact details: 020-7520 7066;

Yasmin has been worked in the sector for a number of years, mainstreaming
race equality in Higher Education through the NUS Black Students committee
and is a long-time campaigner in the area of equality and diversity.
A Policy Adviser for the areas of race and religion, Saheema Rawat, has
also been appointed. Saheema has extensive experience of embedding race
issues through working in the Lord Chancellor's department and consultancy.
She joins us from Focus Consultancy on 5 April.
Erica Halvorsen, Policy Adviser, and Ruth Hunt Policy Officer continue the
policy work.
A full briefing on the new staffing structure at the ECU, will be sent to
you as soon as the whole policy team is in place.
