This one seems to be doing the rounds again! When I asked for help on
this a while back I had some really positive responses.
We ran 'refresher' training on 3 November. Some of our original contacts
had left and some decided for various reasons, that it was not appropriate
for them to continue (eg changed circumstances).
We had two sessions - the morning as a refresher and the afternoon for new
people (we also opened the training to SU officers). The people who did
refresher training found it reassuring and felt more confident in their
roles. We agreed we would meet four times a year as a group - with me
acting as coordinator. Very few of the contacts had actually been
approached so we addressed in the training how to pick up on issues where
there might be subtle indicators. We used the same external trainer as
before (who knows our Institution well).
We need to publicise this scheme more widely and I would be very
interested to see what other people have in the way of leaflets etc. if
you are happy to share this.
I am happy to talk to anyone about ideas/suggestions
