Hi ,
Simply as a Tutor with a professional and personal commitment to Equal
Opps, rather than an EO 'specialist', I would feel very uncomfortable
about this. Irrespective of whether this is well meant, it is likely to be
received as the privileging of one religion over all others, and over all
the atheisms. Why not a copy of the Koran and the Torah? And , and....
My feeling is that it may be appropriate to place an information sheet in
every room, giving information about places of worship, local
representatives of each faith, and local sources of 'essential texts' (I
could really use a collective noun for 'underpinning' religious texts that
does justice to their importance: is there one?).
Nick.
