Hello, all,
Here's a different issue to divert your attention from the RRAA for a
change!
Has anyone out there been doing work in respect of the new regulations
concerning disclosure of criminal convictions on regulated posts that
they would be willing to share? I understand from my HR colleague
that these regs come into force on 31 March; there has been a certain
amount of advice from the Criminal Records Bureau, and -- apart from
obvious statutory requirements protecting children and vulnerable
adults -- it appears that there is a degree of autonomy for
organisations to decide for themselves what posts are considered
"regulated" for the purposes of disclosure. However, despite lots of
requests for further information, there appears to be something of an
information black hole on actual implementation issues, such as :
-- if a conviction is disclosed, who (within the organisation) decides
whether it's relevant to the job applied for? How is the decision
made?
-- who should get access to disclosed information (e.g., chair of
shortlisting panel? anyone else?
Any advice welcome. (Have Equality Challenge Unit colleagues been
working on this as well?)
Many thanks,
Faith
