The Disability Office at the University of Wales Swansea is looking to make

Department of Planning
The University has recently established an Assessment and Training Centre
for Students with Disabilities, as an extension of the Disability Office.
The aim of the new centre is to offer dyslexia and IT tuition, plus
comprehensive assessments of needs for our students with disabilities
(including those with dyslexia).
Assessment and Training Officer
Salary: £20,470-£26,491 per annum.
Applications are invited for the above vacancy in the Department of
Planning, reference L4123. Reporting to the Special Needs Officer, the
duties of the postholder will include: undertaking study-skills and
strategies assessments for disabled students; undertaking IT training for
disabled students; advising staff on relevant issues and giving assistance
on the development of policy. The postholder will also supervise an IT
Support Officer. Applicants should be educated to degree level or have
equivalent professional experience.
This full-time appointment is available for a fixed term period of two years
in the first instance.
IT Support Officer
Salary £17,626-£19,681 per annum
Applications are invited for the above vacancy in the Department of Planning
reference L4124. Reporting to the Assessment and Training Officer and then
to the Special Needs Officer, the duties of the postholder will include:
undertaking group and individual IT training for disabled students;
providing technical support for disabled students; managing the networked
computer environment in the Assessment and Training Centre. Applicants
should be educated to degree level or have relevant professional experience
and skills appropriate to the post.
This full-time appointment is available for a fixed term period of two years
in the first instance.
Dyslexia Tutor
Salary: £20,470-£26,491 per annum.
Applications are invited for the above vacancy in the Department of
Planning, reference L4125. Reporting to the Special Needs Officer, the
duties of the postholder will include: providing individual specialist
tuition to dyslexic learners; providing group tuition to the same;
developing and maintaining a register of suitably qualified freelance
dyslexia tutors; assisting in the admissions process; advising staff on
relevant issues and giving assistance on the development of policy.
Applicants should be educated to degree level or equivalent, and hold (or be
working towards) a relevant dyslexia qualification.
This full-time appointment is available for a fixed term period of two years
in the first instance.
Clerical Assistant
Salary: £10,558-£12,556 per annum.
Applications are invited for the above vacancy in the Department of
Planning, reference L4126. Reporting to the Dyslexia Tutor and Assessment
and Training Officer, the duties of the postholder will include: addressing
the enquiries of personal visitors and the large number of telephone calls
received daily; raising of invoices and monitoring income/expenditure;
typing of reports. Applicants should have a sound basic education, and
excellent interpersonal skills. Job-share applications would be welcomed.
The appointment is available for a fixed term period of two years in the
first instance.
