‘ACCESS TO RIGHTS’
CONFERENCE – 21st & 22nd
June, 2000
THE AIMS OF THIS CONFERENCE ARE TO:
Review University sector support for students with disabilities in the
light of forthcoming legislation and other sector requirements for
disability provision.
Review how institutions can improve their responses to bullying and
harassment whether this is of people with disabilities or any other
group.
The Conference Objectives are:
To review the QAA Code of Practice for students with disabilities
To look at exemplars of good practice in HE
To look at ways of creating a culture of equality in HE.
To examine the issues of bullying and harassment in HE
To begin to formulate effective strategies for tackling the issues and to
support those who have been subjected to bullying and harassment.
Keynote speakers will be: Colin Low, Senior Research Fellow at
City University, Vice Chair of RNIB and a member of the Disability
Rights Commission. Sophie Corlett, SKILL and Vicki Merchant,
Chair of the International Harassment Network.
The HEEON Residential Conference will be held on 21st and 22nd
June, 2000 at the University of Sheffield. Fee for the conference is
£225 or £195 for HEEO Network members. Daily rate is £95 per
day. Please note: the HEEO Network AGM will be held at 11.00
am on the 22nd June.
