Hello
Has anyone got any experience of supporting ESOL students who progress onto Functional Skills? I'm looking at the problems ESOL learners have at FS Level 1 and Level 2, in particular with the reading and writing components.
Students who successfully complete ESOL L1 and L2 courses are often being asked for FS L2 if they want to go on to mainstream courses at our college and beyond, and are struggling especially with context, word counts and accuracy issues.
I'd be interested to hear if you have similar issues, and would be grateful for any suggestions which might help. Does anyone know of any research in this area?
Thanks very much,
Anna
